Fellowship Place 2013 Solnit Lecture
March 6, 2013 6:00pm. Fellowship Place Campus, 441 Elm Street, New Haven.
Dr. Vonnegut, who battles bipolar disorder, has written “vividly and personally,” in the memoir Just like Someone Without Mental Illness, Only More So. The book has been praised as “an honest, witty, and vivid depiction of ‘normal’ life in between interruptions of mental illness”. Dr. Vonnegut suffered his first “psychotic break” in 1971, after which his first memoir, “The Eden Express” was published. Years later, he found recovery, stability, and ultimately acceptance into medical school, earning his MD from Harvard. Vonnegut is a primary care pediatrician in Massachusetts where he was recently named “No. 1 Pediatrician” by Boston Magazine. He has served on the Harvard Medical School Admissions Committee and is an instructor in Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School.
