A group of clients from Fellowship Place joined our neighbors for the annual Dwight community clean up on Saturday, May 8. Everyone enjoyed the beautiful weather and the opportunity to clean up and beautify the neighborhood where we live, work, and play.
Your donation will help us provide breakfast and lunch 7 days a week, and laundry supplies for homeless adults who come to the Inn for daytime support services. Funding of this program is a priority, especially as the agency struggles with rising costs due to inflation and supply chain issues, and a 30% increase in demand for services. Fellowship Place serves more than 200 homeless adults annually, many of whom struggle with a mental illness or a mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorder.
Winners will receive a free trip to CONNRI Lodge, an adult retreat center sponsored by The Salvation Army in Ashford, CT. To win a campership, clients submit an essay or piece of artwork that communicates why they would love a getaway from urban life. All entries are judged by a subcommittee of Fellowship Place Board of Directors. Pictured from left to right are winners Vito, Emily, Karen, Dana, Board Member Ruth Sachs, Cheryl, Joanna and Mark. This year’s trip will take place July 11 to July 14.
For the sixth consecutive year, Fellowship Place offered free income tax preparation services for our clients with the help of Yale students trained by the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program sponsored by the IRS. In 2023, clinics were held on Feb. 25 and April 1 with approximately 50 individuals served. Pictured from left to right are Yale volunteers Frederick Freeman, Lydia Broderick, Emrett Shell, and Mishan Oseragbaje. Special thanks to Joanna Wypasek who coordinated and scheduled more than a dozen of her fellow students to staff the clinics.
