Fellowship Place selected by the CT Dept. of Mental Health & Addiction Services to co-lead 2 yr federally funded demonstration project
Fellowship Place has been selected by The Connecticut Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services (DMHAS) to co-lead with Easter Seals Goodwill a 2 year, federally funded demonstration project that will provide supported employment services for adults with a mental illness and criminal justice involvement. The Yale Program for Recovery and Community Health (PRCH) will run the research component of the project, which seeks to document best practices to help this client population overcome barriers to employment. Employment is believed to be an important factor in successful community re-integration. Funding from this contract will make it possible for Fellowship Place to help 50 additional participants a year find and maintain employment. Lessons learned from the project will be used to establish supported employment programs that reduce recidivism and may be replicated across the country. The new program is an expansion of Fellowship’s Career Development Services, which in FY16-17 provided supported employment services to 135 people.

Greetings from Camp CONNRI
31 Clients attended Fellowship Place’s annual trip to the Salvation Army’s Camp CONNRI in Ashford, CT. Fresh air, great food, fun activities and most of all “fellowship” made for a memorable trip. Special thanks to the Salvation Army and donors to the Birgitta Johnson Campership Fund for help with underwriting this event. Our clients came home refreshed and ready to face new challenges.
Meatless Mondays at Fellowship Place for Better General Health
Every Monday the Fellowship Place Kitchen encourages our clients to give up meat for just one day a week. Members are introduced to healthy fruits & vegetables they may not eat on a regular basis. This week the menu included Cacao & Fruit Smoothies (raw chocolate beans, strawberries, & frozen bananas, and nonfat yogurt) which are high in antioxidants, vitamins, fiber, protein, calcium and contain healthy probiotics.
