Fellowship Place awarded $50,000 Responsive Grant from the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven

The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven (CFGNH) has awarded Fellowship Place a $50,000 grant, through the Foundation’s largest annual competitive grants process. Fellowship Place was one of 47 nonprofits chosen to receive funding from this competitive process.

“Fellowship Place is grateful for the opportunity to participate in The Community Foundation’s competitive grant making process,” says Executive Director, Mary A. Guerrera, “we are proud and honored to be chosen as a recipient of a 2017 grant award. This funding will greatly support us in furthering our agency’s mission of helping adults with mental illness lead more meaningful, fulfilling and healthy lives.”

The awarded funds are to provide general operating support for Fellowship Place’s core programs.

For over 57 years, Fellowship Place’s mission has remained unchanged, to help adults who have a mental illness lead more meaningful, fulfilling and healthy lives by offering resources, education and opportunity. Fellowship Place’s campus is a multi-purpose center where adults with a serious mental illness may access a variety of support services in one location to improve quality of life and general health. The agency’s services complement traditional psychiatric services by providing opportunities for people to structure their day, learn important skills, and form positive connections to peers and the community. Serving over 740 adults annually, the agency is open 365 days a year and provides services that include daily meals, pre-vocational & vocational services, supportive education, expressive arts, physical recreation, life-skills groups, supportive housing, case management, and supportive counseling.  The agency is committed to helping the mentally ill, their families, and the public realize that with proper treatment and support, people with a mental illness can be successful and contribute to the vibrancy of our community.
