Full Time Employment Specialist

Full Time Employment Specialist needed to provide counseling and support for individuals who seek to enter or re-enter the work force and are living with a mental illness or co-occurring substance use disorder and mental illness.   The Employment Specialist helps individuals with resume writing, job applications, preparing for interviews, and post-employment follow-up and support.  Duties include vocational assessments, individual and group classes on resume writing, mock job interviews, service coordination with collateral providers, and developing partnerships with employers to facilitate job placements.  Position requires a BA degree in Psychology or Human Services, electronic record keeping, valid Drivers License and clean driving record.    Successful candidates will have basic knowledge of motivational interviewing, person centered practice, and the ADA.  Two years of similar work experience may be substituted for college degree.   This is a good entry level position for anyone interested in working with underserved client populations and who is committed to helping individuals on fixed incomes find and keep a job in the competitive marketplace.

Hours are 9am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday with occasional overtime.

Starting salary $23/hour with paid time off, health benefits, and retirement plan.

Daytime Drop-in Program for the Homeless Full Time Mental Health Program Assistant

Fellowship Place, a multi-purpose social service organization serving primarily adults living with a mental illness or a co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorder, is recruiting for a full time Program Assistant for its drop-in program for the homeless.

Applicants must be able to work 7:30am to 3pm on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Friday with occasional overtime. This is an excellent position for individuals interested in working with poor and underserved client populations and who want to make a difference in the lives of homeless men and women.

Responsibilities include basic needs assessment and referrals to shelter services,  health care, and employment programs. The Program Assistant may also help program participants with applications for government entitlement programs. The Program Assistant organizes daily schedule for meals, laundry, and showers and  works with other program staff to maintain a safe and peaceful environment in the program at all times.

Successful applicants will have prior experience in a shelter or drop-in program, be familiar with harm reduction and motivational interviewing, and be comfortable with electronic record keeping.  Associate’s Degree in Human Services preferred.

Salary is $23 per hour with paid time off, health plan, and retirement plan.

Full Time Mental Health Program Assistant

Fellowship Place, a nonprofit agency located in New Haven, is recruiting for a full time Program Assistant for the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Center which provides therapeutic group activities, social & recreational activities, and supportive counseling for individuals living with a mental illness or a co-occurring substance use disorder and a mental illness. Responsibilities include organizing and conducting group activities, outreach & engagement, referrals to other community services, and oversight of common space to maintain safe and peaceful environment.  Successful candidate will have good motivational interviewing skills, some familiarity with the mental health system of care in Greater New Haven, and group work experience. Some training on Harm Reduction, Person Centered Planning, and work experience with vulnerable client populations a plus. Position requires team work and creativity in developing activities that promote recovery, positive use of leisure time, and independent living. This is an excellent entry level  position for individuals seeking a career in Social Work or Counseling.

Hours: 9am-4:30pm with some evening and weekend hours.   Salary is $23 per hour with comprehensive benefits package including health benefits, paid time off, and 403-b plan. Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or Social Work with prior mental health experience in a nonprofit setting preferred.
