Daytime Drop-in Program for the Homeless Full Time Mental Health Program Assistant

Fellowship Place, a multi-purpose social service organization serving adults living with a mental illness or a co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorder is recruiting for a full time Mental Health program assistant for its daytime drop-in program.

Hours 7:30am to3pm, Monday-Friday  with occasional overtime. This is an excellent position for individuals interested in working with poor and underserved client populations and who want to make a difference in the lives of homeless men and women. Responsibilities include basic needs assessment and referrals to shelter services, primary and behavioral health care, and employment programs. The Program Assistant may also help program participants with applications for government entitlement programs. The Program Assistant works with other program staff to develop daily schedule for meals, laundry, and showers and to maintain a safe and peaceful environment in the program at all times.

Successful applicants will have prior experience in a shelter or drop-in program, be familiar with harm reduction and motivational interviewing, and be comfortable with electronic record keeping.

BA/BS in Social Work, Psychology or Human Services preferred but not required.

Part Time Mental Health Program Assistant

Fellowship Place Inc., located in New Haven, CT is looking for a Part Time Program Assistant to staff the agency’s drop-in evening and weekend program for adults living with a mental illness or co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorder.  Hours are 5pm-8pm on Monday & Wednesday and 9:45am to 1:45pm on Saturday and Sunday.  Duties include greeting and signing-in program participants, setting up refreshments, heating up and serving meals as needed, and engaging participants in positive social activities, e.g. pool, ping pong, cards and other games.

This is an excellent position for students interested in pursuing a career in social services and community based mental health.  Qualified candidates will have a High School Diploma with 1-2 years of volunteer or work experience in a mental health agency preferred.  Individuals who have a lived experience with mental illness encouraged to apply.  Salary Range $19 to $20 per hour, depending on experience.
