Part Time Program Assistant For Homeless Drop-In Program

Homeless Drop-in Program Seeking PT Program Assistant

The Fellowship Inn, a daytime drop-in program for the homeless located in New Haven CT, is recruiting for a part time Program Assistant to work Saturday & Sunday plus holidays. Responsibilities include greeting walk-ins, setting up and overseeing breakfast and lunch service, scheduling use of shower and laundry facilities, and providing information & referral to other community services. Applicants should have an interest and commitment to working with the poor and with individuals living with a mental illness or a co-occurring substance use disorder and mental illness; prior experience in a shelter or drop-in program preferred. Minimum of HS diploma required; Associates degree with course work in Psychology preferred. This is a good entry level position for college student seeking to gain experience in the social service field or for an experienced professional seeking supplemental income. Hours are 8:30am-3pm Saturday & Sunday; 9:45am-1:45pm holidays. Salary is $20/Hour.

Full Time Employment Specialist

Full Time Employment Specialist needed to provide counseling and support for individuals who seek to enter or re-enter the work force and are living with a mental illness or co-occurring substance use disorder and mental illness.   The Employment Specialist helps individuals with resume writing, job applications, preparing for interviews, and post-employment follow-up and support.  Duties include vocational assessments, individual and group classes on resume writing, mock job interviews, service coordination with collateral providers, and developing partnerships with employers to facilitate job placements.  Position requires a BA degree in Psychology or Human Services, electronic record keeping, valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.    Successful candidates will have basic knowledge of motivational interviewing, person centered practice, and the ADA.  Two years of similar work experience may be substituted for college degree.   This is a good entry level position for anyone interested in working with unemployed  individuals find and keep a job in the competitive marketplace.

Hours are 9am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday with occasional overtime.

Starting salary $24/hour with paid time off, health benefits, and retirement plan.
