Full Time Employment Specialist

Full Time Employment Specialist needed to provide counseling and support for individuals who seek to enter or re-enter the work force and are living with a mental illness or co-occurring substance use disorder and mental illness.   The Employment Specialist helps individuals with resume writing, job applications, preparing for interviews, and post-employment follow-up and support.  Duties include comprehensive vocational assessments, individual and group classes on resume writing, mock job interviews, service coordination with collateral providers, and developing partnerships with employers to facilitate job placements.  Position requires a BA degree in Psychology or Human Services, electronic record keeping, and reliable daily transportation; prior work experience in Workforce Development or Human Resources preferred.  Successful candidates will have basic knowledge of motivational interviewing, person centered practice, and the ADA.  Two years of similar work experience may be substituted for college degree.     Hours are 9am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday with occasional overtime.   Starting salary $23/hour  with paid time off, health benefits, and retirement plan.

Daytime Drop-in Program for the Homeless Full Time Mental Health Program Assistant

Fellowship Place, a multi-purpose social service organization serving adults living with a mental illness or a co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorder is recruiting for a full time Mental Health program assistant for its daytime drop-in program.

Applicants must be able to work 7:30am to 3pm on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Friday with occasional overtime.   This is an excellent position for individuals interested in working with poor  and underserved client populations and who want to make a difference in the lives of homeless men and women.   Responsibilities include basic needs assessment and referrals to  shelter services, primary and behavioral health care, and employment programs.   The Program Assistant may also help program participants with applications for government entitlement programs.   The Program Assistant works  with other  program staff to develop daily schedule for meals, laundry, and showers and to maintain a safe and peaceful environment in the program at all times.

Successful applicants will have prior experience in a shelter or drop-in program, be familiar with harm reduction and motivational interviewing,  and be  comfortable with electronic record keeping.

Salary is $23 per hour  with paid time off, health plan, and retirement plan.

Full Time Receptionist

Fellowship Place, a busy social service agency located in the Dwight neighborhood of New Haven, is recruiting for a Receptionist.  The Receptionist greets clients and other visitors to the agency,  answers phones, records attendance,  and completes  various clerical support tasks.  Sample assignments may include data entry, sending faxes, sorting mail,  stocking office supplies, filing, typing, and preparation of simple correspondence.  Ideal candidate will  have good customer service skills and demonstrate empathy for low income  individuals living with a mental illness or substance use disorder and the homeless.  Position requires  proficiency with  Microsoft Suite and experience with a multi-line phone system.    A  minimum of 1 year work experience as a Receptionist or Administrative Assistant, preferably in a social service or behavioral health organization preferred.

Salary is $20.50/hour with paid time off, health benefits, and 403-B Retirement Plan.  Hours are 8:45am-4:15pm, Monday-Friday with occasional overtime.

Social Worker Masters Level

Fellowship Place is recruiting for a Masters level Social Worker for the agency’s new Family and Community Engagement project.    This position will provide supportive services for families and caregivers of adults living with a mental illness or co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorder.    Responsibilities will  include counseling, psychoeducation, and  referrals to  other community services.  The Social Worker will meet with family members individually and  will help develop and lead a Caregivers Support Group.   The Social Worker will also collaborate  with  the agency’s Peer Support Specialists on community presentations about mental health and mental health resources.    Experience with Harm Reduction, Motivational Interviewing, and Mental Health First Aid helpful.

Successful applicants will have a MSW degree and broad base knowledge of mental health, mental illness, and available community resources.  Salary $50,000 with paid time off, health plan, and 403-B Retirement Plan.  Must be able to work 1pm-8pm at least 4 days per week.  This is a good opportunity for a recent graduate seeking a position in a small nonprofit organization.   Fellowship Place is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
