Fellowship Place Celebrates Social Work Month

Fellowship Place celebrated Social Work month today with a special ceremony recognizing the contributions that professional Social Workers make at the agency on a daily basis.  Members shared how social workers have made a difference in their lives.  There are more than 650,000 professional Social Workers employed in the United States, and Social Work is one of the fastest growing professions.  Social workers are leaders, advocates, and champions, dedicated to improving the lives of the most vulnerable and to making our communities good places to live, work, and play.

From Homeless to Housed at Fellowship Place

Robert first came to the Fellowship Inn Homeless daytime drop-in program over a year ago. At that time, he had been homeless for two years moving from shelter to shelter throughout the greater New Haven area, and was struggling with a diagnosis of severe depression. Over the past year, with the help of the dedicated staff at Fellowship Place, Robert has made significant progress in leaving his life on the streets; he is an active participant in Fellowship Place’s Social Rehab Center, and has attained supportive housing in the Fellowship Commons Supported Housing program.

Fellowship Place partners with Yale University to provide free tax filing assistance for low income individuals

A big thank you to student volunteers from Yale University visiting Fellowship Place’s campus to provide Fellowship Place clients & employees and our neighbors from the Dwight Central neighborhood FREE assistance with their 2017 income tax forms. The student volunteers are trained and certified by the IRS as part of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, which offers free tax help to people who earn $54,000 or less, persons with disabilities and limited English speaking taxpayers.
